Peter Sagan claims yellow jersey after sprint victory

World champion Peter Sagan has claimed the second stage of Tour de France.

The Slovak outsprinted Julian Alaphilippe and Alejandro Valverde to cross the finish line first. Race leader Mark Cavendish lost ground on the final climb to finish one minute and 45 seconds behind Sagan.

Tinkoff rider, Sagan, has now an 8-second advantage over second-placed Alaphilippe. Chris Froome, who won last year's Tour, is fifth overall after the Sunday stage, lagging 14 seconds behind the leader.
