Moscow hosts exhibition of traditional dress
Moscow is hosting an exhibition of traditional national dress called "Festive costumes of the Russian people.”
The colorful garments, and rich jewelry for the fair have come from as far afield as the shores of the Volga to the snows of Siberia and the Far East. The clothes were worn by women and girls in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Officials say the collection contains 400 thousand items and is the first of its kind in the Russian Federation. Much of the national clothing included in the exhibit reflects the ethnicity, region and social status of those who wore them.
