Lionel Messi has retired from international duty after Argentine lost the second Copa America title to Chile in two years.

As mentioned earlier, the 29 year-old failed to convert a penalty at the MetLife Stadium in the Copa America final against Chile on Sunday and decided to quit without winning a major trophy with his country.

The five-time FIFA World Player of the Year said he decided to leave his national team after failing to win in four finals for Albiceleste.

He says he has done all that he could and It hurts him not to be a champion. Messi has won eight La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues with Spanish side Barcelona.
