Russia, China seeking new paradigm based on development: Pundit

Press TV has interviewed Mike Billington, from the Asia Desk of the Executive Intelligence Review in Leesburg, about Russia’s joint business initiatives with China.

A rough transcription of the interview appears below.

Press TV: As Russia and China are increasing their trade ties, it seems increased militarization instead of working toward building stronger global economy also worked its way into the conversation, an obvious jab at NATO, which is a symbol of cooperation-based security ties rather than trade and investment. Is it fair to say that Moscow and Beijing are trying to shift the balance of power from militarism to economy?

Billington: You cannot disconnect them. This is happening in the context of the total breakdown of the Western financial system, it is happening in the midst of Obama and his British controllers moving the most massive military forces since World War II right up to Russia’s border, to US aircraft carrier exercising in the Philippine Sea, obviously another threat to China and as both Mr. Putin and Mr. Xi Jinping said, the deployment of these anti-ballistic missile systems in Romania and Poland as well as the THAAD missiles in Korea and missiles elsewhere being deployed in Japan and elsewhere, these are first-strike weapons, these are not defensive weapons or if they are defensive, they can be reprogrammed in minutes to deploy Tomahawk nuclear weapons.

We are looking at a severe threat of thermonuclear war in the very near term, perhaps this summer. The cause of that should not be seen as geopolitics although that is the mentality in the US and in Britain. The cause is that what Putin is doing with Xi Jinping is to successfully create an alternative world, a new paradigm based on development, based on building infrastructure, railroads, nuclear powers, space programs, collaborating with the BRICS nations, with the SCO nations that have now brought India and Pakistan into the SCO in collaboration with the Eurasian Economic Union that Mr. Putin formed.

We are looking at the vast majority of the world pulling together an alternative to the self-destructive and globally destructive policies implemented by the killer in the White House, by the policy of mass murder across the Middle East, mass murder through the drone policies and in fact mass murder against the European and American populations through this economic disaster, which was not sparked by the British exit from the euro, by the way. That is the spark in a sense but it is caused by the long-term destruction of the productive economies of Europe and the United States under Bush and under Obama.

Press TV: How imperative do you think it is that we have alliances like the one between Russia and China, you mentioned the new paradigm, the alternative, to offset or balance out the West’s attempt at global dominance in practically all spheres?

Billington: It is not an alliance and that is extremely important. Both Putin and Xi Jinping have made very clear that we have to end the idea of geopolitics of alliances of blocs. We do not want blocs. What Putin and Xi Jinping are saying is, ‘Please join us. We do not want a bloc against the United States. We want the United States to come to its senses and to join us in these development processes.’

America among others desperately needs to rebuild its infrastructure and its economy. The alliance with Russia and China and India, the BRICS, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), is totally in America’s interest but it won’t happen while our nation is under the domination of the London and Wall Street banking interest, dominated by London with their puppet Obama, who is now driving for war in order to prevent that alliance. What you saw today for instance between Putin and Xi Jinping prevent that from creating an alliance, which is of course appealing to all nations on earth who recognize that the future, if they want a future, is in Eurasia not in the bankrupt collapsing transatlantic financial empire, which is on its last legs and like a dinosaur is willing to threaten a war, a nuclear war, a thermonuclear war, in the very near term if in fact Obama is not removed from office by constitutional means, which is what Mr. Lyndon La Rouche and my organization and a growing number of people are recognizing must happen now, this summer, long before this ... phony election in the United States that we have to reverse the direction of the US towards provoking a thermonuclear war. That is our job, every human being’s responsibility at this point.
