Army of giant spider crabs gather Australian bay

An army of giant spider crabs gathering off the coast of Melbourne have been captured by Australian scuba diver Sheree Marris.

An Australian scuba diver has captured a breathtaking footage of an army of giant spider crabs gathering off the coast of Melbourne.

Marine scientist Sheree Marris filmed the spectacular underwater show while she was scuba diving in the shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay. The huge crabs had 17 centimeters wide bodies and legs longer than 70-centimeters.

They were making an annual migration to southern Australia's shores, which happens every year between May and July, as the ocean water cools.

Giant spider crabs are the largest known species of crustaceans in the world and can live up to 100 years. Marris says it was the largest gathering of crabs she had ever seen.
