Press TV has conducted an interview with Richard Becker, a member of the ANSWER Coalition, and Brent Budowsky, a columnist of The Hill, to discuss the rising tensions between Russia and NATO.

Becker says NATO is an “aggressive, offensive” military alliance, which sees Russia as an enemy.

He says the eastward expansion of NATO, toward Russia, will raise the possibility of “climbing a ladder of escalation that can lead to catastrophic consequences.”

The analyst goes on to say that the United States is the main country directing “NATO’s aggressive policy.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Becker argues that NATO’s military build-up near Russian borders can become a great danger to humanity if the aggressive stance of the US and NATO continues.

“Once one missile is fired, then the consequences become unknowable and the possibility of a war starting either by deliberation or by accident is very grave,” he says.

Budowsky, for his part, believes NATO’s eastward expansion is a “signal” but will not lead to any kind of a direct military conflict.
