Mother Earth’s inner fire might just save the island nation of Comoros from its energy deficiency.

The volcanic island, located off the southeastern coast of Africa, is trying to plug its daily electricity-cuts, using geothermal energy.

The renovation funded by the African Union, New Zealand and the UNDP, can help Comoros with both its energy issues and the high unemployment rate.

Currently countries like El Salvador, Kenya, Costa Rica and the Philippines get 15 percent of their electricity from geothermal sources.
