Naser Bouhanni wins opening stage of Creetirium du Dauphin

Frenchman Naser Bouhanni has sprinted to victory in the opening stage of the Creetirium du Dauphin cycling in his home country.

The 25-year-old had a tough battle and blasted past Irishman Sam Bennett and then Yens Debusherer in the final 50 meters on Monday to post the stage-win in a time of 4 hours, 27 minutes and 53 seconds.

After crossing the line, the Frenchman dedicated his success to the deceased boxing legend Muhammad Ali.

Meanwhile, Alberto Contador who had won Sunday’s prologue held onto the leader's yellow jersey.
