Saudi Arabia uses terrorism as tool for political gain

  • Iran says Saudi Arabia is using terrorism as a tool to impose its political agenda in the region. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hossein Jaberi Ansari also noted that Riyadh’s wrong policies are the key factor behind most current regional and international problems. 
  • Iraqi forces have liberated a gas plant from Daesh terrorists in the city of Fallujah. Army officials say the terrorists lost a large number of their members during the operation. Fallujah has witnessed heavy fighting between government troops and the terrorists over the past few days. 
  • Media reports say UK Special Forces have begun a military operation inside Syria. According to a report by The Times, British forces are defending the so-called New Syrian Army against Daesh terrorists. This is the first direct involvement of UK troops inside Syria.
  • An assailant has killed five Jordanian intelligence officers north of the capital, Amman. The incident happened in a refugee camp 20 kilometers from Amman. The site is home to nearly 100000 Palestinian refugees. Officials have blamed Daesh for the shooting. 
  • NATO has kicked off its largest ever military drills in Poland. The exercises will run for ten days and involve some 31000 troops. Russia has expressed concern over the drills, saying it will take adequate measures to counter NATO's eastward expansion. 
  • Israel is planning to build new settler units in the occupied West Bank. They'll be constructed near the Qalandiya Airport area, in East Jerusalem al-Quds. The settlement bloc will include 15000 units. All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law. 
  • A strong storm has killed at least three people in Australia’s east coast. The storm has caused massive flooding, forcing residents to flee their homes. The bad weather has also left hundreds of homes without power. Authorities have issued flood warning for New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. 
  • Kenyan protesters have held rallies against the makeup of the electoral commission. At least one person has been killed in clashes with police in the western city of Kisumu. Opposition protesters say the commission is made up of corrupt and biased members.
