Venezuela have won their second victory in 16 matches after defeating 10-men Jamaica in Chicago in Copa America group play.

Although it was first Jamaica who came close to scoring at the Soldier Field on Sunday when they rattled the crossbar on Watson’s header, Venezuela’s Josef Martinez stole the how with his 15th minute goal that came after a clever chain of passes.

Jamaica’s miseries were completed when Rodolph Austin was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Tomas Rincon midway through the first half.

Venezuela got lucky again when Hector hit the post once more 3 minutes into the second half. But then they held firm and won their Group C opener with a single goal. And in the other match in Group C on Sunday, Mexico thrashed Uruguay 3-1 .
