Djokovic beats Murray in French Open final

Novak Djokovic poses with the championship trophy after winning the French Open.

The world’s No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic has completed a career Grand Slam by winning the French Open title at last.

In his 12th appearance at Roland Garros, the Serbian ace came from a set down to beat world No.2 Andy Murray 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 and clinched the elusive title.

The Briton started off strong and won the first set but fell short of converting a break-point early into the second before the 29-year-old Serb took charge and dominated the rest of the game to win the match in three hours.

It was the maiden French Open title for Djokovic who had lost the final on three previous occasions, twice to Rafael Nadal and once to Stanislas Wawrinka.

This was the 12th major title for the Serb as he became the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four major titles at once.
