Golden State Warriors have taken a firm first step towards repeating their NBA title after beating the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers 104-89.

The credit for the Thursday night victory definitely belonged to the Warriors’ bench who outscored the visitors’ reserves 45-10.

The home team was better in the first quarter although it was mostly a close fight which ended 28-24 for the Warriors. The home side still did better in the second and were leading 52-43 at halftime.

However, LeBron James and his Cavs sprang back to life with the beginning of the second half and even grabbed the lead at one point in the third. James, who was playing in his 6th straight finals, had 23 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists in the night.

Cleveland went on to win the third frame 25-22. Golden State then took control again and stunned the away team with two late 3-pointers that sealed the fourth frame 30-21 in their favor and handed them the 15 point win.
