Austria’s Dominic Thiem and Spain’s Marcel Granollers were tied at one set apiece in the 4th round of the tournament before heavy rain stopped the contest.
Granollers entered the match with high energy as his opponent Rafael Nadal withdrew from the competition in the 3rd round due to a wrist injury.
With his 5-day rest, it was Team who started the match powerfully on Tuesday. The 22-year-old raced to a 5-2 lead in the opening set, before the match on court two was interrupted by rain for almost three hours.
Thiem, however, finished the job when the match resumed, securing the set with ease at 6-2. But, Granollers stormed back in the second and overwhelmed his Austrian opponent 7-6 to level the match at one set-all before the showers stopped the play again, with any luck, the match will resume on Wednesday.
