Press TV has interviewed Steven Kelley, a former CIA/NSA contractor in Los Angeles, about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s criticism of the deployment of US missile systems in Eastern Europe.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Let’s take a step back for a while and start by asking you how and why has it been so important for NATO to essentially expand eastward following the Cold War, and even before that after the Second World War?

Kelley: I guess with that question I think we are going to cut right to the chase, and I think nobody is saying this and I think President Putin certainly is aware of what this is really all about, and now this is a war against the Rothschild and the world domination and when he went into Syria and basically drew the line and said that the world is going to change from this point on, there is no more hiding what is going on.

This aggression and this encroachment on the borders of Russia obviously is nothing less than the planned invasion of Russia and certainly the system that is running the world today... has no choice but to try to conquer Russia in order to carry on with its cartel. So that is really what this is all about.

Press TV: Do you get the sense that the Western media, the dominant mainstream media in the West, are seeking to portray exceedingly ever more the Russian side as the instigators of this crisis, if you can call it that, whereas essentially the Russians are saying that this is the Americans and the NATO forces who have begun this and we are simply reacting to it?

Kelley: Reacting is a good way of putting it. Obviously NATO and the USA and the EU and all of these players are being the aggressors here and again we can all draw this straight to the banking cartels and the Rothschild who are certainly pulling the strings in these countries as well as the media. So when we talk about Western media, we have to remember that at least here in the United States or here in most of the English speaking world, all of the media is owned by a handful of companies, so it is not really a fair media and it is certainly easily controlled and this is why we are seeing such an extravagant, one-sided, aggressive attack on

Russia and trying to portray Vladimir Putin as some sort of a monster and the Russian people and the Russian country as aggressive, when obviously that is not the case.

Press TV: And to what extent do you think the NATO side and the Americans are going to be concerned about the Russian retaliation?

Kelley: We are here to talk about what is going on with Mr. Putin’s comments [on] Romania and obviously Poland is involved and certainly if you look at the Baltic States -- Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia--- this is going on everywhere. We have German troops stationed on the border of Russia. This is an incredible provocation. You have got the Americans in Moldova, it is incredible the movements that they are trying to make, and to be honest, the missile systems that are being installed, alleged missile defense systems like the one being installed in Romania, I think these are mostly placebos to try to give the general population there some feeling of security as NATO begins to use their territory as a launching ground for this World War III operation, but I think the reality is that the weapon systems that Russia is capable of feeling are easily able to overwhelm any of these systems that are being installed today and that is not even talking about the top secret weapon systems which the public are not even aware of.

So both sides are certainly equipped with weapon systems far beyond these things that they are talking about here in the media but the bottom line really is that what we are looking at here; it is a genocidal, suicidal war that is being declared by people…

Press TV: Speaking of war, hypothetically if an actual military conflict were to break out between the two sides given the sensitivities as well as the NATO side and the Americans, to what extent do you think these two countries, Poland and Romania, their people essentially, would be caught in the fire?

Kelley: Obviously that is a very good way of putting it. Yes, they will be certainly caught in the fire and I think that each of these countries involved has different things going on with their populations and their leaders, some of them are leaning towards fascism, some of them have long-term feelings of inferiority and desire to somehow get revenge against Russia for past crimes.

So the degree to which these populations are going to be responsible or able to overcome what is being set up on their territories depends on those people and what they do now and I think if we look at some countries there is certainly resistance but if you look at Poland for instance, George Soros is pumping a lot of money into Poland to disrupt the government over there and I would not be surprised if Romania is probably also being controlled by oligarchs who are expecting to make huge amounts of money out of this.
