Chinese kids scale 800-meter cliff on way to school

Pupils from Atuler village climb vines hung on the cliff to go home after school on May 14, 2016 in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province of China.

A group of Chinese children in a village in Sichuan province are getting some attention for the way they commute to school.

The boarding school children, aged 6 to 15, have to climb down more than 800 meters of incredibly steep terrain to get to school.

The kids go up the mountain to visit home about twice a month. Ever since the trek has gained some media attention, local officials have said they're considering putting in place sturdier steel infrastructure to help villagers get up and down the mountain, until a more permanent solution is found.
