207 carat diamond discovered in Russia

The unnamed diamond measures 38.0 х 37.0 х 18.0 mm.

A mining company in eastern Russia has unearthed an enormous 207 carat diamond, the size of a table tennis ball.

The uncut diamond has a diameter of about four centimeters. It is believed to be approximately three million years old and is one of the largest diamonds ever found in Russia.

Experts say it could be worth several million dollars. The company found a 76 carat stone in the same area last year which had an estimated value of 430 thousand dollars.

Large diamonds are usually either sold to Russia’s State Depository for Precious Metals or go under the hammer at auctions.
