Press TV has interviewed Deena Stryker, a journalist with the opednews.com from Philadelphia, about Russia’s criticism of the United States for refusing to join Syria airstrikes.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: What is going to happen in Syria? On the one hand, Russia continues to highlight the help that for example entities like Turkey and others giving to al-Nusra and now upping the ante and trying to strike them. And of course on the other hand, we have the United States not wanting to join with Russia to strike this terrorist organization. How do you see this actually? What is going to happen with this if it continues Russia on this side, the United States on the other side? What do you think is going to happen in Syria?

Stryker: The United States doesn’t give up easily especially on a long-term plan. The plan to eliminate all the left-leaning countries of the Middle East one by one was already in the works in the 1990s as has been publicly exposed by General Wesley Clark.

So this is not just some casual thing that’s happening in 2016 that can reverse course, because it’s part of a long-term plan.

And of course, the US will continue to blame Russia for everything that happens to try to influence public opinion, but gradually, I think, the American public is becoming aware of what’s going on and with the upcoming presidential election as you mentioned earlier in this area as well everything is up for grabs.

Press TV: But are we not likely to see peace in Syria based on what you’re saying, the American government is set on the agenda; though, more American people are awakening? Do you see peace in the near future coming about in Syria? Or do you think that the United States will continue with this agenda?

Stryker: I believe absolutely that the United States will continue with its agenda, while trying to mask it vis-à-vis the broad public.
