Football’s world governing body FIFA has sacked its Deputy Secretary General Markus Kattner for financial breaches linked to his job.
The organization said in a statement on Monday that Kattner was removed from his position with immediate effect.
The statement said FIFA’s internal investigation uncovered breaches of Kattner’s feedushiary responsibilities in connection with his employment contract.
The scandal-hit governing body, however, added that it won’t comment further on any of the details but would cooperate with the relevant authorities.
The 45-year-old German joined FIFA as director of finance in 2003 and became Deputy Secretary General in 2007.
He took over as acting General Secretary after Jerome Valcke was suspended last year.
