US losing foothold in Syria: Analyst

Press TV has interviewed Scott Bennett, a former US army psychological warfare officer in San Francisco, to discuss the secret visit by General Joseph Votel, the head of US Central Command (CENTCOM), to northern Syria.

Read a rough transcription of the interview below.

Press TV: How do you see it? What actually is going on? Why all of a sudden do you think a top American official, a military commander, had to jump into Syria like this? What do you see happening behind the scenes here?

Bennett: Well they are losing, it is that simple. The United States is losing its foothold in Syria. The United States is losing its reputation by its hypocrisy in Syria. It has already lost its reputation and its sense of being a nation liberator and a nation developer. It has lost that through its destruction of all these other nations in the Middle East.

So the US is desperate and it is amazing to me when I look back because I come from the Reagan days but in looking at Obama and his military staff, they really are on a schizophrenic kamikaze self-destruction path and they are running both ways, they do not know what they are doing, they do not know how to contain this and they are hoping that somehow the clouds are going to disperse and the sunshine is going to come through and suddenly like Moses in the wilderness lifting up his arms the Red Sea is going to part and that all sides are going to drop their weapons and come to peace. That is just not going to be. President Putin in Russia knows that. He has made overtures to the United States to join Russia in its airstrikes, the US has laughed that off arrogantly and now Syria and Russia are taking care of the problem themselves.

General Votel of US Central Command is probably one of the most devious and deceitful generals in the history of the United States military and interestingly he was put there after General James Mattis started to investigate my reports in shell game about US Central Command’s failure in terrorist financing. So when I look at people like Votel and some of Obama’s other military staff I see them as absolute lairs and corrupt and I would not trust a single thing that they say when it comes to the peace talks.

There should be no peace talks. There should be the absolute obliteration of any foreign military in the country of Syria. The country of Syria is ruled by President Bashar al-Assad; a lot of senators and politicians in the United States recognize that, they back Assad and they do not back this endless military campaign.
