Classified 9/11 report on Saudi role ‘shocking’: US lawmaker

US Representative Rick Nolan speaking at an event at Washington’s National Press Club on Monday, May 17, 2016.

A prominent US lawmaker has characterized a classified 28-page congressional report on the September, 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as “shocking” as pressure builds on President Barack Obama to release the report.

US Representative Rick Nolan, a Democrat representing Minnesota's 8th congressional district, made the remarks Wednesday after reading the 28-page report.

“It’s very detailed. It has the names of the people who supplied money to the 15 Saudi Arabians who participated in the bombing of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The bank account numbers, where the money went to,” Nolan told RT.

The 28-page report is part of a larger joint congressional report on 9/11, called the Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities, which was released in 2002.

Nolan said that the report contains plenty of evidence for families of the victims to sue those responsible – namely the Saudi government.

Members of Congress from both parties say the 28 classified pages contain many details on who supported the attackers, but “nothing about national security.”

This, after both Republican and Democratic congressman said there is no information in the report threatening national security with its release.

On Tuesday, the US Senate voted to allow the families of 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia for its alleged involvement in the attacks.

The September, 11, 2001 attacks, also known as the 9/11 attacks, were a series of strikes in the US which killed nearly 3,000 people and caused about $10 billion worth of property and infrastructure damage.

US officials assert that the attacks, which killed almost 3,000 people and caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage, were carried out by al-Qaeda terrorists but many analysts say it was a false-flag operation and that Osama bin Laden was just a bogeyman for the US military-industrial complex.

They believe rogue elements within the US government orchestrated or at least encouraged the 9/11 attacks in order to boost the US economy and advance Israel's agenda.
