Mars coming closer to earth than it's been in years

This weekend Mars will shine brightly as it reaches closest distance to Earth in 11 years.

If you are a fan of astronomy, you’ll love this. Mars is coming closer to Earth than it’s been for over a decade.

Mars and Earth will only be around 75 million kilometers away from each other on May 30. This closeness will help the stargazers to be able to see the red planet grow brighter and larger in the night sky from May 18 to June 3. NASA says the next chance to see Mars this close will be in the summer of 2018.
