Turkey pushes with controversial immunity from prosecution motion

Turkey’s government has failed to secure adequate parliamentary votes to directly ratify its controversial bill on ending lawmakers’ immunity. But the MPs cast enough votes to allow Ankara to hold a second parliamentary ballot, and by extension of a referendum, on the issue. Critics say this would give the government increased power to push the opposition out of parliament.
