Press TV has conducted an interview with Foad Izadi, a professor at the University of Tehran, about approving of a bill by the Iranian parliament to oblige the government to seek damages from the US over its anti-Iran acts.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: There is long list of damages that Iran can seek. The question is how will Iran go about it in order to get some end results?

Izadi: That is difficulty; we don’t have US assets inside Iran. So, what the Iranian government and the Iranian parliament are doing [is] actually setting the stage, passing the relevant laws and also documenting the different ways that the US government has caused difficulties for the people of Iran.

I think the documentation by itself is quite significant. I think what we will see is that Iran is probably one of the most damaged countries by US foreign policy in the last 60 or 70 years. So, that is going to be the first step. There are other types of measures that Iran can take.

We had the Iranian justice minister giving an interview yesterday talking about using all means to basically get as much money from the United States as possible. He referred to some plans that are not going to be announced publicly, some scholars plan to basically see how US property can be confiscated.

These two billion dollars that was taken from Iran is not going to be forgotten based on what we hear from Iranian government officials. And they are going to use all necessary means to make sure that that money is not going to benefit anyone in the United States.

They are, based on what they say, quite serious about making sure that this type of activities they do not continue. Of course, they are going to go through legal means also at the International Court of Justice in The Hague and other venues and so the story is not done.
