Iranian shooters pocket 5 medals in 2016 Hanover cup

Iranian female sports shooters have impressed the audience at the International Shooting Competitions of Hanover (ISCH) in Germany, and collected five medals, including three gold ones, at the international sports event.

On Tuesday, the Iranian squad, consisting of Elaheh Ahmadi, Mahlagha Jambozorg and Najmeh Khedmati, received the bronze medal at the end of women’s 50-meter rifle prone team competitions at Hanover’s National Shooting Center.

Swiss national team was named the champion in this category, and was followed by the hosts who claimed the second spot and finished as runners-up.

The Iranian outfit also vied for the top honor in women’s 50-meter rifle 3 positions team contests and could settle for a bronze. They stood behind German sports shooters in the first and second places.

The developments came a day after the Iranian team landed in the top spot and scooped up the gold medal in the final of women's 10m air rifle team event.

Ahmadi notched the highest points in the individual contests of this category and received the gold, while Khedmati collected the silver medal.

The International Shooting Competition of Hanover in Junior and Senior sections kicked off in Germany on May 7, and wrapped up on May 15.
