The fight against the Israeli regime and Takfiri terrorism will continue with strength, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says.

Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in the Lebanese capital of Beirut on Saturday after he paid tribute to Mustafa Badreddine, a top military commander of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, who was assassinated during his anti-terrorism mission in Syria.

He added that Takfiri terrorists have had a hand in the killing of Hezbollah's military chief.

The Iranian official emphasized that such measures are conducted only to strengthen terrorists and the Israeli regime, who seek to cause discord in the Muslim world.

“We will strongly proceed with our efforts to fight Takfiri terrorism and also to establish unity in the Muslim world,” he said.

Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Beirut on Friday at the head of a political and security delegation to meet with the bereaved family of the top Hezbollah military chief and pay tribute to him.

On Friday, Hezbollah announced that Badreddine lost his life in a strike near the international airport in Damascus, Syria, and held a military funeral for the senior commander in the Beirut.

Initial media reports blamed the Israeli regime for the death of Hezbollah's military chief. However, the movement said in a statement on Saturday that investigations show that Badreddine was killed by Takfiri terrorist groups operating against the Syrian government.

Israel is widely known to have been supporting terrorists fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Badreddine was the commander of Hezbollah's military wing which is helping the Syrian government drive out foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists from the country.

He also directed military operations against the Israeli invasion of Lebanon and was a frequent target of attempts by Israel, the US and its allies in the Middle East to assassinate or capture him.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with Badreddine’s family members on Saturday, Amir-Abdollahian said the Zionist terrorism and Takfiri terrorism are behind Badreddine’s killing.

He added that martyrs of the resistance front and Iranian military advisers in Syria are the sources of honor for the Muslim world.
