France celebrates V Day, hides Algeria massacres

On the very same day that Nazi Germany officially surrendered, France started a five-month campaign of repression in Algeria. The Setif massacres showed that, despite the bloodshed of World War II, France was totally committed to maintaining its imperialism across Africa and elsewhere.
