Liverpool posts 3-0 over Spanish contenders Villarreal

Jurgen Klopp remains on course for silverware in his first season in charge of the Reds after Liverpool posted a 3-nil over Spanish contenders Villarreal to overturn first leg's 1-0 defeat.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Liverpool levelled the tie on aggregate early on after Villarreal's Bruno Soriano scored an own goal in the 7th minute to return hope to Anfield.

Three minutes after the hour makr, Liverpool took the lead in this semi-final tie for the first time thanks to Daniel Sturridge. Firmino's ball made its way through to the Englishman and the England striker simply kept his composure to tuck the ball beyond Areola via the right-hand post.

Nine minutes from time, Adam Lallana secured Liverpool's place in the final of the Europa League with a third goal of the night to open up a 3-1 aggregate lead. Firmino again played a key part, working some space on the left and picking out Sturridge before Lallana flicked the ball over the line.
