Here is a round-up of global news developments:

  • Turkish warplanes stage fresh attacks on the positions of Kurdistan Workers Party militants. Government sources say twenty jets bombed PKK targets in Shirnak province in Turkey as well as their bases in northern Iraq. This is the latest in a series of airstrikes against PKK militants in recent months.

  • International medical charity, Doctors without Borders, rejects a US military court's ruling that said last year’s bombing of its hospital in Afghanistan did not amount to a war crime. The MSF says US forces failed to follow the basic laws of war and that the disciplinary actions against them were too light.

  • A car bomb attack on Shia pilgrims near the Iraqi capital leaves more than 20 dead and dozens wounded. The attack occurred in Nahrawan, an area northeast of Baghdad. The pilgrims were walking to the shrine of Imam Musa Kazim, the seventh Shia Imam for annual commemorations.

  • A truce has taken effect in parts of Syria, following a surge in violence there. The new regime of calm covers the capital's eastern Ghouta suburb and the north of Latakia province. The army has excluded Aleppo from the new truce due to the terrorists’ continued attacks.

  • Clashes have erupted between police and activists in the German city of Stuttgart. The protesters gathered outside of a party convention held by the right-wing anti-immigration party, Alternative for Germany. AFD's popularity has recently soared following the refugee crisis.

  • Palestinians stage a protest in the occupied West Bank against the demolition of their homes and the construction of Israeli settlements. The protest was held in Kafr Qaddum village near Nablus. Israel has reportedly demolished more than five-hundred Palestinian structures since the beginning of 2016.

  • Saudi-backed militants violate a UN-brokered ceasefire in Yemen by targeting a residential area in the south. Militants and forces loyal to Yemen's former president shelled residential buildings in Usaylan district, killing three people. They also staged attacks around the capital Sana’a.

  • The United States says it will continue talks with South Korea to install a new anti-missile system on the Korean Peninsula despite calls by Russia and China to back off from the plan. White House Spokesperson Josh Earnest said the missile system would not threaten regional countries.
