US political system is absolutely rigged: American author

“I don’t agree with Trump on too many things, but I agree with him when he says the political system in America is rigged. It’s absolutely rigged,” Stephen Lendman told Press TV on Thursday.

An American author and political analyst says the US political system is absolutely rigged, and Hillary Clinton was hand-picked by the establishment to be the Democratic nominee for president.

Stephen Lendman made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Thursday while commenting on a statement by US Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, who said he plans to remain in the presidential race despite losing four of the five states in Tuesday's primary voting.

Sanders, a US senator from Vermont, said Wednesday at a campaign rally in West Lafayette, Indiana, that he would remain in the race through the Democratic Party’s national convention in July.

He said at the rally he intends to win every delegate possible so he'll have enough votes at the party's convention to put together "the strongest progressive agenda that any political party has ever seen."

Lendman said Sanders “has been enjoying – as we say in America – his 15 minutes of fame, extended in this case over a good number of months. But the fix is in.”

“I don’t agree with Trump on too many things, but I agree with him when he says the political system in America is rigged. It’s absolutely rigged. Sanders knows it’s rigged, and the Republican aspirants know [it’s rigged],” he said.

“If I know it’s rigged, everybody running for office knows it’s rigged, and the media knows it’s rigged, but they don’t say anything about it. I say a lot about it all the time,” he added.

Lendman said Republican presidential front-runner Donald “Trump absolutely should be the Republican nominee unless they steal it from him.”

“But the system was rigged absolutely to give the nomination to [Hillary] Clinton,” he added.

The analyst said Clinton is “a criminal in many, many ways, guilty of so many crimes, but [her crimes] are being covered up.”

Sanders has criticized Clinton over her ties to Wall Street and wealthy corporations, as well as running Super PACS that collect tens of millions of dollars from special interests.

Sanders has also repeatedly condemned America’s huge wealth inequality, lack of universal healthcare and a corrupt campaign finance system, drawing significant support for his presidential campaign.
