NHL Stanley Cup: Predators defeat Anaheim Ducks 2-1

Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne made 36 saves to help the Predators defeat Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on Wednesday to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Nashville opened the scoring after six minutes 19 seconds.

Into the first period, when Colin Wilson pounced on the puck, to beat Frederik Andersen and give his team the lead. It was Wilson's second goal and fifth point of the series.

The Predators took a 2-nil advantage later in the same period. Wilson carried the puck deep and played it to Viktor Arvidsson, who set up Shea Weber for a shot that ended up behind Andersen. Paul Gaustad got his stick on it, deflecting the shot in.

Anaheim was finally able to break Nashville’s netminder Pekka Rinne 1 minute 45 seconds into the third period thanks to Kesler who scored for the third straight game and fourth time in the series, but the visitors wrapped up a 2-1 win.
