Volunteers help care for pandas at Malaysia zoo

Giant pandas Liang Liang and Xing Xing are a huge draw for local and foreign visitors to Malaysia's national zoo.

Malaysia’s national zoo is home to a family of giant pandas. Now, a program is giving volunteers a chance to look after these adorable animals.

Participants help prepare food for the pandas, including scrubbing the bamboo and making delicious snacks for them. They also help lay out the treats in their enclosure.

But they won’t be allowed to get up close with the pandas. They can only see them from afar to prevent the possibility of passing on any illness to the animals. Still, it's an educational experience for many of them.

The volunteer program aims to give the public a chance to contribute to the conservation of the endangered species by making the pandas' life as comfortable as possible.
