DC police arrest pro-democracy protesters at US Capitol
Washington police have arrested scores of protesters outside of the US Capitol Hill as anti-corruption demonstrations rage on for the fourth consecutive day.
Reports say Capitol police arrested at least 80 protesters who were calling on Congress to end the role of money in politics and elections.
Police have so far detained hundreds of pro-democracy activists since a coalition of civil rights groups called "Democracy Spring” began their rally on Sunday.
The protesters have pledged to press on with the rallies until legislators take action against corruption.
On Monday, US police arrested more than 400 people in Washington DC for protesting against the role of money in politics.
The demonstrators were also demanding that the Senate fulfill its constitutional responsibilities pertaining to the Supreme Court.
They chanted slogans like "one person, one vote" and "money out of politics" as they were sitting on the East Front of the Capitol.
One sign read, "Things go better without Koch," a reference to the billionaire businessmen David and Charles Koch, who have pledged to lead a campaign worth almost $900 million to support their favored candidates.
Police took several protesters into a bus and shuttle vans while they were in plastic handcuffs.
The majority of the demonstrators had marched from Philadelphia to Washington during the past week.
