'Masha and the bear' is hitting the mall

While children’s most favorite cartoons and animations are predominantly American and Japanese, a Russian cartoon has become a worldwide hit.

You might have heard of “Masha and the Bear”. A little green-eyed naughty girl who drives a retired circus bear crazy with her mischievous pranks.

The Russian cartoon series was first launched in 2009 based on a fairy tale. It has become so successful that is now being broadcast in over 120 countries.

Its YouTube channel is among the top ten most viewed in the world. The producers never thought of making it for other countries but after its huge success, some elements of the female character accidentally turned out to be a positive point.
