World most advanced X-ray laser designed in California
Scientists have designed the most advanced X-ray laser in the world, operating 8000 times faster than its predecessor.
Researchers at the National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park in the U-S state of California, say the “LCLS2” is 1-thousand times brighter than the last version.
This will allow the experts to study how nature works on the atomic level and on ultrafast timescales.
The invention is expected to be fully operational by the year 2020. It could be capable of firing up to 1 million X-ray pulses per second.
