UN official urges more humanitarian aid in Syria

A senior UN official says he’s disappointed with recent efforts to get aid convoys into hard-to-reach and besieged areas in war-torn Syria. Yan Egeland, the humanitarian aid adviser for the UN Syria envoy, called on Damascus to live up to its promises. The head of UN-backed humanitarian efforts for Syria said April was supposed to be the best month for aid delivery, but it’s slowing down. Humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people is part of an international response to the country’s crisis. Meanwhile, the Syrian Air Force with support of Russian fighter jets has delivered humanitarian aid to the besieged Syrian city of Dayr al-Zawr. The cargo of much-needed items was air-dropped into the violence-wracked city that has been under the control of ISIL terrorists.
