Australia has introduced a unique idea for asylum seekers. The surfing program is aimed at helping them come to terms with their disturbing experiences at sea.

The program is meant to help transform the lives of asylum seekers as well as their feelings towards the ocean, thus allowing them to briefly forget the pains of the past.

Experts at the non-profit organization Settlement Services International (SSI) have focused on the concept of ocean therapy, which has been used to help people with difficult experiences.

The experts say the technique has enabled many to gain confidence and become so enamored with the sport.
