  • The US military has reportedly restarted a controversial program to train and equip dozens of so-called moderate militants in Syria. The Pentagon resumed the program after coming under fire just last year for admitting that much of the 500-million dollar effort to equip the trainees ended up in Daesh's hands.

  • Russia has accused Turkey of arming Daesh terrorists in Syria. Russia's Ambassador to UN Vitaly Churkin said in a letter to the UN Security Council that 1.9 million dollars worth of explosives and chemicals has been smuggled across Turkey's border to the Takfiris and other terrorist groups in Syria.

  • Greece’s Parliament has approved a bill that allows the deportation of refugees back to Turkey as part of an agreement between Ankara and the European Union. Meanwhile, refugees have blocked the country’s railway lines. They say they will continue their protests until they’re allowed into Macedonia.

  • The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution that paves the way for deploying UN police force to Burundi to help end nearly a year of violence. The UN Secretary General has 15 days to provide options for the proposed police force, in consultation with Bujumbura and the African Union.
