Europe must drop geopolitical games: Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov says Europe must drop its QUOTE geopolitical games and get serious in the fight against terrorism after the Brussels bomb attacks. He asked EU members to unite behind anti-terror efforts. Lavrov noted that Russia is still monitoring the crossing of militants and illegal oil trade on the Syrian-Turkish border.

The Syrian army has reportedly entered the ancient city of Palmyra in Homs province which had fell to Daesh terrorists last year. According to Syrian media, army troops have cleared all roads of mines and explosives. Palmyra is home to one of the world’s most magnificent heritage sites.

The U-S Secretary of State John Kerry has visited Moscow for talks over the situation in Syria. Kerry says a fragile partial ceasefire in Syria has reduced levels of violence. But he noted that the U-S wants to see a further reduction as well as greater flows of humanitarian aid.

Belgium's Health Ministry says 61 victims are in intensive care following Tuesday's terror attacks in the capital Brussels. The Health Ministery also says the death toll could rise. Two attackers have been identified as Ibrahim and Khalid El Bakraoui. A third one was bomb-making expert Najim Laachraoui who is still at large.

A group of Iraqi and European intelligence officials say Daesh has trained some 600 terrorists to carry out deadly attacks in European countries. The officials, who have been tasked with monitoring terrorist cells, revealed that Daesh training camps are located in Syria, Iraq, and possibly the former Soviet republics.

Israeli forces have shot to death two Palestinian in the occupied West Bank. The victims were killed after they allegedly stabbed and wounded a soldier at a checkpoint in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood of Hebron also known as al-Khalil. 208 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops since early October.

No respite in Bangladesh violence over local elections as death toll rises to 13. Police say clashes broke out during the Tuesday poll after a mob tried to snatch ballot boxes in the southern Pirojpur district. The violence in the south Asian nation has worsened steadily since the 2014 disputed general elections.
