Press TV has conducted an interview with Kevin Barrett, an author and Middle East expert in Madison, and Frederick Peterson, a congressional defense policy adviser in New York, to discuss the remarks made by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei saying the P5+1 group is not keeping its side of the bargain in Iran’s nuclear agreement.

Barrett says the United States is violating its portion of the nuclear agreement with Iran, adding that Washington should be held accountable in an international court of law.

He also notes that lying has become “an epidemic” in the political class in the United States.

“They (US officials) no longer even recognize truth, they no longer recognize reality and they feel that they can invent these ludicrous pretexts to completely ignore solemn agreements, binding agreements that they themselves have signed,” he says.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Barrett argues that the United States is projecting its military power into the Persian Gulf region, adding that it has murdered probably more than 60 million people in its military and CIA interventions since World War II.

He goes on to say that the US government has overthrown democratically-elected governments all over the world in order to install vicious, brutal dictatorships that murder and torture their own people.

Peterson, for his part, believes there is a “pretext” being used on the part of Washington to delay full implementation of Iran’s nuclear agreement as the US is entering a very volatile political season.
