Iraqi forces retake Kubaysah from Daesh

The Iraqi army, along with volunteer fighters, has freed the city of Kubaysah from Daesh in the Western Anbar province. Sources say the terrorists fled to the neighboring city of Hit, following their defeat. Forces from police, army and local tribal fighters are taking part in an operation to force Daesh out of Anbar. Last month, Iraqi security forces established full control over the provincial capital Ramadi. In the meantime, an estimated 35,000 civilians have fled Hit and its surroundings in the run-up to the military operation. According to the International Committee of the Red Cross, thousands of freshly displaced people are stranded in areas where very little assistance is available.
