Russia: Conditions ripe for defeat of Daesh in Palmyra
A Russian Defense Ministry official says conditions are ripe for a complete defeat of Daesh terrorists in Syria’s ancient city of Palmyra. Lieutenant General Sergei Rudskoy says the Russian Air force continues pounding Daesh and Nusra Front targets at the rate of 20 to 25 sorties each day. According to Rudskoy, the bulk of the Russian military contingent is leaving Syria. He added that the Syrian troops are being supported by the Russian air force in their new push for Palmyra. Rudskoy also noted that the Syrian troops have retaken strategic hilltops near the northern city of Aleppo and have cut supply routes which lead to parts of the city still held by the terrorists.
