Russia says may keep S-400 missile system in Syria

Russia says it will complete the withdrawal of most of its military contingent in Syria in two to three days.
That was announced by Russian Air Force commander Viktor Bondarev. Russia began withdrawing its forces from Syria on Tuesday a day after President Vladimir Putin ordered a partial military pullout. Russian troops are already heading home. The first group which began pulling out included Sukhoi-34 fighters, bomber jets, and a transport plane carrying personnel. Russia has said it may keep its S-400 surface-to-air missile systems in Syria.

A Syrian political commentator has weighed in on the reasons behind Russia’s troop drawdown in Syria, saying it could have been timed to coincide with the Syria peace talks in Geneva.
