"UNSC agrees missile tests don't breach UN resolution"

Iran says the United Nations Security Council has agreed that the country’s recent missile launches are not in breach of UN resolutions.
The Iranian foreign ministry’s international security director said the council members on Monday concluded that the missile tests do not violate the Council’s 2231 resolution. Hamid Baidi-nejad said the council ended the closed-door discussion on the issue without a press conference. Russia also dismissed claims that the missile launches violate the UN resolution or the nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1. But Washington’s UN ambassador vowed to continue pushing for UN Security Council action against Iran over the ballistic missile tests.

Samantha Power also accused Russia of looking for reasons not to respond to what she called the Iranian violations of the 2231 resolution. Israel’s ambassador also urged concrete, punitive measures against Tehran over the launches. Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps successfully test-fired two ballistic missiles last week as part of its military drills. The U-S said the launches were provocative and destabilizing, and called for a U-N Security Council meeting to discuss the issue. But Tehran maintains that its missile prowess is purely defensive. It has also rejected allegations that the projectiles are capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
