Iranian women fall to Japan in U-19 soccer games

Iranian women's national soccer team has conceded a defeat at the Kuban Spring 2016 Women’s U-19 Football Tournament in Russia, slumping to the Japanese side.

The young Iranian sportswomen suffered a bitter 2-0 loss to their Japanese counterparts in a Group A match staged in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on Sunday.

The Iranian outfit went down to the Romanian team 3-4 in its opening match on March 12.

The Persians are slated to play against Russia in their third Group A fixture on Tuesday.

The Kuban Spring 2016 Women’s U-19 Football Tournament opened in Sochi, Russia, on March 11, and will finish on March 20.

A total of eight teams, including Estonia, Iran, Japan and Romania are competing in round-robin format.

Iran has been drawn in Group A alongside Japan, Romania and Russia.

Group B consists of Estonia, North Korea and two teams from the Russian regions of Krasnodar and Sibir.
