Hezbollah condemns Arab League’s blacklisting as 'aggression'

  • Deputy Secretary of Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah denounces the Arab League's enlisting of the group as a terrorist organization. Sheikh Naeem Qassem describes the move as a declaration of aggression by Saudi Arabia. He says the Arab League's decision shows that Hezbollah is on the right path.
  • The Syrian army has inflicted heavy losses on Daesh terrorists in Homs province and taken control of new areas there. The army units and national defense forces have liberated several areas near Palmyra. The Syrian Air Force has also pounded terrorist hideouts east of Homs.

  • Thousands of Britons have gathered outside Yarls Wood Immigration Detention center in Bedfordshire. They demanded that authorities shut down the center which is used to hold female refugees. They also protested the ill-treatment of asylum seekers at the camp.
  • Germans pour out into the streets of Berlin to voice their opposition to Chancellor Angela Merkel. They called for Merkel’s resignation over her refugee policy. A counter-rally was also staged in support of asylum seekers in the city. Police were on alert to prevent any scuffles.
  • Macedonia says Germany has failed to give an appropriate security response to the refugee crisis. The country also slammed the European Union for rejecting its offer to share intelligence on refugees. Macedonia has already shut down its border with Greece to block the arrival of asylum seekers.
  • Lebanese people have once again protested in the capital Beirut, calling on authorities to tackle the garbage crisis. Rubbish has been piling up on beaches and river beds since last July. The government’s attempts to export or treat garbage in Lebanon have so far failed.
  • Torrential rains and fresh floods have caused at least 18 deaths across Pakistan. There are also reports of severe damage to infrastructure in Quetta and some areas in the west. Authorities have warned locals in flood-stricken cities to remain alert for adverse weather in the coming days.
