Tragedy in the Italian Alps. An avalanche has left six skiers dead.
Local authorities say 10 others are believed to be trapped under the snow. The skiers were attempting to climb a 3000-meter summit near the Austrian border when the avalanche occurred. Mountain rescue teams have been sent to the scene, but officials say the steep terrain and high altitude are complicating the rescue. Italian media are reporting that there was a marked avalanche risk of three out of five in the area, where 5 indicates the highest risk.
