A human was defeated by artificial intelligence in strategy match

A computer has defeated a human in a match between Google’s computer program and the world’s champion of the Chinese board game.

In a match between Google’s computer program and the world’s champion of the Chinese board game, “GO”, the South Korean champion was defeated by artificial intelligence.

Lee Se-dol has been the champion of the ancient Chinese game for the past ten years. But he lost the two first round of a five-game match to Google’s AlphaGo.

It’s a strategy board game with two players placing black and white pieces in turns on a square grid to gain more territory. The competition was held in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

The three other matches will be held through next Tuesday. AlphaGo first attracted world’s attention when it defeated the European champion last year. The game was not popular until the matches between human and computer gained global popularity.
