Activists call for end to arms sales to Saudi Arabia
Activists are calling on all countries joining the upcoming discussions on the implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty to stop selling weapons to Saudi Arabia.
Campaigners have called on countries selling weapons to Saudi Arabia to set their hypocrisy aside and halt their sales. According to the Control Arms Coalition, the US, the UK, France, Germany, and Turkey are among countries selling arms to Riyadh. Saudi Arabia has purchased weapons worth more than 25 billion dollars in 2015 alone. Activists argue that Riyadh and its allies have been using the weapons for gross violations of human rights and possible war crimes in Yemen.
