The Monday match was the first 500 level final between two unseeded players since Valencia in 2011 as the runner up was no one better than Argentina’s Guido Pella.

It was 3-3 in the first set when the match was interrupted for more than 3 hours due to rain and it was the Uruguayan who dictated himself after restart to take the set 6-4.

A hard battle ensued in the second and, as Cuevas was on the verge of winning in straight sets, Pella turned the tables and forced the match into the decider which Cuevas won with another 6-4.
