Iran beach v-ballers score win against China in Kish Open

The Iranian national men’s volleyball A team has achieved a superb straight-set win at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Kish Island Open, pummeling China in a thrilling two set-set match in the Persian Gulf island of Kish.

The Iranian outfit, consisting of Bahman Salemi and Rahman Raoufi, managed to triumph over the Chinese side 2-0 (21-14 and 21-13) in a Group H encounter on Tuesday.

Iran will play against Turkey in another group stage match later in the day.

Also on Tuesday, the Iranian team of Vahid Nikoufar and Abdul Aziz Amanian conceded its second defeat at Kish Open, losing to Austria (9-21 and 14-21). German sportsmen had routed the Iranian athletes in straight sets (both 21-11) in the morning.

Iranian beach volleyball players Saber Houshmand and Abbas Pourasgari also fell to Germany in two consecutive sets (21-15 and 21-16) in their second Group D match.

In Group B, Belgium trounced the Iranian squad, comprised of Hamed Mirza Ali and Ebrahim Sansebili, in straight sets (21-17 and 21-15).

 The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Kish Island Open opened in the Persian Gulf island of Kish, Iran, on February 15 and will wrap up on February 19, 2016.

Some of the countries participating in the competitions consist of Austria (4 teams), Canada (2 teams), China (3 teams), Germany (2 teams), Iran (8 teams), Italy (2 teams), Norway (6 teams), Poland (4 teams ), Qatar (2 teams), Russia ( 2 teams), and Turkey ( 3 teams). 

Australia, Belgium, the Czech Republic, England, Estonia, France, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, and Venezuela have each one team in the tournament.
